چکیده

The paper analyzes both acoustic and linguistic features with different Chinese prosodic boundaries. Then a rule-learning approach was used to do the prosodic boundary labelling. In the paper the prosodic boundaries are classified into four levels, full intonational boundary with strong intonational marking with/without lengthening or change in speech tempo, prosodic phrase boundary with rather weak intonational marking, prosodic word boundary and phone foot boundary. Candidate acoustic and linguistic features related to prosodic boundary were extracted from the corpus to establish an example database. Based on this, a series of comparative experiments is conducted to collect the most effective features from the candidates. Results show that the selected candidates characterize the boundary features efficiently. Final experiments show that rule-learning approach introduced in the paper can achieve better prediction accuracy than the nonrule and RNN based methods and yet retain the advantage of the simplicity and understandability

Use of prosodic information to integrate acoustic and linguistic knowledge in continuous Mandarin speech recognition with very large vocabulary

This paper presents a new approach to use prosodic information for the integration of acoustic and linguistic knowledge in continuous Mandarin speech with very large vocabulary. Since the overhead computation incurred from unification of search space is confined to the syllable boundaries, the use of prosodic information to reduce the syllable boundary hypotheses as well as the syllable matchin...

RNN-based prosodic modeling for mandarin speech and its application to speech-to-text conversion

In this paper, a recurrent neural network (RNN) based prosodic modeling method for Mandarin speech-to-text conversion is proposed. The prosodic modeling is performed in the post-processing stage of acoustic decoding and aims at detecting word-boundary cues to assist in linguistic decoding. It employs a simple three-layer RNN to learn the relationship between input prosodic features, extracted f...

Acoustic Correlates of Hierarchical Prosodic Boundary in Mandarin

The aim of this paper is to present a systematical analysis of the acoustic correlates of hierarchical prosodic boundaries. This analysis is based on a large labeled corpus of Mandarin Chinese. The acoustic correlates include the lowest value of pitch and the duration of the silence. The prosodic structure is defined thanks to a perception experiment. The main results are : a) the declination o...

Features of Prosodic Hierarchy Boundary between Uygur and Mandarin Chinese

The study explored the perception and acoustic features of prosodic hierarchy boundaries in Uygur and Mandarin Chinese. The results of the perception study showed that native speakers of Mandarin Chinese were more sensitive to prosodic hierarchy boundaries than native speakers of Uygur. The results of a detailed acoustic analysis indicated that the acoustic features of Uygur prosodic hierarchy ...
